DAVIS COUNTY

2011-12
DAVIS COUNTY PRESIDENT
DIANA BROWN

The members of the Davis County Medical Society Alliance have been active and involved in promoting healthy lifestyles, working against negative social behaviors, supporting quality health care legislation, raising the awareness of the physician’s role in the community, and supporting the medical family.

PROMOTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
In this past year our alliance set up a booth at the Davis County “Safe Kids Fair” where we promoted,  Hands Are Not For Hitting-Anti Bullying and the Faux Paw campagin- regarding internet safety for children.

WORKING AGAINST NEGATIVE SOCIAL BEHAVIORS
We collected donations for Safe Harbor (a local battered women’s shelter) in an attempt to support those immediately affected by negative social behaviors

We encouraged and promoted with posters and flyers the showing of the documentary “Happy Valley”.

SUPPORTING QUALITY HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION
Representatives from our county were present at both the pre-legislative reception and Dr.’s day at the legislature.

RAISING AWARENESS  OF THE PHYSICIAN ROLE
Each year we seek  out and select a Physician of the Year in our county award them with  a plaque, media announcements, and county recognition.

SUPPORT THE MEDICAL FAMILY
We work closely  with the DCMS to provide educational and  wholesome activities for county physicians and their families.
For example:
Doctors were invited to attend dinner and an educational presentation by Dr. Jay Bishoff  regarding the growing problem of Prescription drug abuse. Following the dinner they met their families for the opening night premier of the animated show “RIO” .

There was a dinner held February 3, 2012, at the Oakridge Country Club to honor the Davis County Physician of the Year, Dennis R. Peterson, MD. Here are a few photos from the event.
